"Why would I see an Osteopath?" is the question most frequently posed by acquaintances who have never had Osteopathic treatment. While it is a fair question, it is one I find difficult to answer. Osteopaths treat people. Osteopaths treat bodies weathered by time. Resolution of pain and discomfort is a happy side effect of resolution of dysfunction. In other words, there's no reason not to see an Osteopath.
The founder of Osteopathic Medicine, Andrew Taylor (A.T.) Still, MD set a lofty goal for Osteopaths in 1874. He is quoted as saying, "It is the job of the Osteopath to find health. Anyone can find disease." Finding health for our patients is my primary goal. To this end, we are delighted that our patients have discovered that improvements in structure improve function and contribute positively toward quality of life.
To all my current patients, thank you. I am committed to continuing the pursuit of optimal health and quality of life with each of you. I am always open to your suggestions and questions. I hope you have found my services invaluable, and I trust you will continue to send me your friends, neighbors, and family, who may also benefit from osteopathic treatment.
Osteopathic manipulation is a wonderful skill set unique to Osteopathic physicians. I have found that my average patient has been told that they are "fine." Tests have shown that there's "nothing wrong." My patients know that they don't feel "fine." I assist them in achieving an ideal structure that allows the body to function in an optimal and pain-free way.
